Turn a voice memo into text, on Windows, Mac or Chromebook
Voice memos from an iPhone (.m4a), Android recorder (.m4a, .mp3, .ogg) or WhatsApp voice note (.opus) can be typed out for free in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so private notes stay private.
Get the memo onto your computer
- iPhone Voice Memos: tap the memo → ••• → Share → Save to Files, AirDrop it, or email it to yourself.
- Android recorder: share the recording to Google Drive or email, or copy it over USB.
- WhatsApp voice note: on WhatsApp Web or desktop, open the chat, hover over the note → ⌄ → Download.
Transcribe it
- Open Murmurhouse and drop the file in.
- Leave the language on automatic, or pick it if the memo is short (a few seconds is not much for detection).
- Read the text, click any line to fix names or numbers, then Copy or download TXT.
Or skip the phone
On a laptop, press Record from microphone in Murmurhouse and talk. When you stop, it transcribes straight away.
