Murmurhouse · Guide
Make SRT subtitles from a video, free and private
Subtitle files (SRT or VTT) let YouTube, Vimeo, VLC and video editors show captions in sync. Murmurhouse makes them from your video in the browser, without uploading the video anywhere.
How to do it
- Open Murmurhouse.
- Drop your video: MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV (if your browser can play it).
- Choose the spoken language, or pick Translate to English for English subtitles from another language.
- When it’s done, play the video and click lines to correct names or words.
- Click SRT (or VTT for the web) to download the subtitle file.
Adding the subtitles
- YouTube: Studio → Subtitles → your video → Add → Upload file → With timing.
- VLC: name the .srt file like the video and keep it in the same folder, or drag it onto the playing video.
- Video editors (DaVinci Resolve, Premiere, CapCut desktop): import the .srt as a caption track.
