Murmurhouse · Guide
Luxembourgish speech to text (Lëtzebuergesch), free in your browser
Few transcription tools understand Luxembourgish at all. Murmurhouse uses OpenAI’s open Whisper model, which was trained on some Luxembourgish, and runs it on your own device.
Honest expectations
Whisper has much less Luxembourgish training data than French or German, so expect more mistakes than in those languages, especially with dialect words and names. It works best on clear speech. Treat the result as a first draft that you correct, not a finished text.
How to get the best result
- Open Murmurhouse.
- Set Language to Luxembourgish. On automatic it often guesses German.
- Use Balanced quality.
- Drop your recording or press Record, then click lines to correct them.
- Need it in English? Choose Output → Translate to English instead.
Mixed-language recordings
Conversations in Luxembourg often switch between Luxembourgish, French and German. Pick the language spoken most; for a long recording with clear sections, you can also cut it into parts and transcribe each with its own language.
